Choo Choo! All Aboard the Copilot Train – finally time for everyone to board! 🚞

This week Microsoft announced a revamped licensing model for its Copilot initiative together with the introduction of a new license, the Copilot Pro license. This aligns very well with Microsoft’s vision to bring the power of generative AI to everyone across work and life.

The Copilot Pro license is a supercharged Copilot license for personal usage, it is not a license for the corporate world but still worth mentioning. If you, privately, have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family license you can buy this add-on to get most of the latest Copilot features. This is though not something of interest for companies, therefore I will not mention that license furthermore in this blog post – it is super exciting though!

3 interesting licensing updates that are relevant from a commercial perspective in the Nordics:

1. 👉🏽Copilot for Microsoft 365 is now available for smaller companies

Copilot for Microsoft 365 can now be bought if you leverage Microsoft 365 Business Premium or Business Standard licensing. You can purchase exactly the number of licenses you need, starting at one license, up to 299 licenses. If you hit the ceiling of 299 licensed users, you need to upgrade to either Office 365 E3/E5 or Microsoft 365 E3/E5.

The price is 30 USD per person and month, without any minimum commitment.

2. 👉🏻Copilot for commercial customers do not need to commit to a minimum of 300 licenses and Microsoft 365 requirement is removed

If you are on an Office 365 E3/E5 or Microsoft E3/E5 license model the minimum license commitment is removed completely. The Microsoft 365 E3/E5 requirement is removed, Office 365 is now good enough!

The price is 30 USD per person and month, without any minimum commitment.

3. 👉🏿Commercial customers can now purchase Copilot for Microsoft 365 through Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners – like Xenit!

Commercial customers can now purchase Copilot for Microsoft 365 through the CSP program. Many customers in the Nordic leverage this licensing model and from now on Copilot can be added to your users the same way as all other Microsoft licenses you buy!

Together with the licensing update there are also quite a few updated features that are introduced:

1. Copilot GPTs
Microsoft announced the availability of customized Copilots for specific needs and topics, for example, fitness, travel, and cooking.

2. Copilot mobile app
A new Copilot app is now available to Android and iOS. Chats will roam between your PC and phone which makes working with Copilot a smooth experience. The mobile app will have the same functionality as on a PC which means that you are able to use GPT-4, Dall E-3, and chat with pictures that you upload from your devices.

3. Copilot in the Microsoft 365 mobile app
Of course, Copilot will not be integrated in the existing Microsoft 365 Android and iOS app as well. With this introduction you can easily leverage Copilot on the go together with content that is created from the Office application suite (also including PDF!),
